I visited #13 Volks'n'roll VW aircooled meeting and rock'n'roll party in Italy on 7-8-9 June 2019.
The meeting was in Antey-Saint-André in the Aosta Valley of northwestern Italy. That is a beautiful area at the foot of the Matterhorn Mountain (Monte Cervino). The address for the Volks'n'roll meeting is Frazione Filey, 1, 11020 Antey-Saint-Andre' AO, Italy.
I arrived Friday afternoon in good weather before sunset. The entrance for the weekend was only 10 EUR. For a Friday, there were already many visitors. Antey-Saint-André is surrounded by mountains and so the sun disappears at about 6 pm. In the evening was live concert and more and more VW fans have arrived.
Saturday morning, the Matterhorn mountain peak was in clouds but from about 10:00 a.m. the Matterhorn was clearly visible all day long. Saturday was very enjoyable and more and more visitors came with and without a Volkswagen. The VW enthusiasts prepared their air-cooled for Show & Shine. There were many food trucks but also many VW fans did BBQ at lunchtime.
After lunch, I drove from the VW meeting 20 kilometer to Cervinia where the Matterhorn is right in front of you. On the way, I visited also Lago Blu with nice views and good reflection of the Matterhorn. Of course, other VW fans did the same and so I was able to take some pics of the iconic Matterhorn with classic Volkswagen.
At 18:45 was the Top 10 award ceremony and then there was a huge party with live concerts. As this is a VW meeting AND rock'n'roll party many visitors do come for the Party which was the biggest I have seen on an air-cooled show. Well done!
Sunday started with hangover, rain, clouds and a bit sun. At 10:25 a.m. was the Volkswagen convoy traveling together to town La Magdeleine which is 9 kilometers uphill from the Volks'n'roll meeting. In La Magdeleine the VNR team made good service with aperitif, regional food and an acoustic concert surrounded by mountains and clouds. After La Magdeleine the VW fans went back to Antey-Saint-André and in the afternoon was the Lottery which I skipped and left the meeting at lunchtime with many others.
