Here some information about parking lights on vintage Volkswagens.
The old VW bug and bus was manufactured without a park light. On VW Split and Oval, you can remove the semaphores and put a Jokon turn signal, parking and boarding light unit on the b-pillar. This was a good option around 1960 but not these days, because the semaphores are cool to have and show.
Hella, GHE Happich and other German company’s made a parking lamp for clamping in the window frame. They are white on the front and red to the rear and have a power cable and plug. This is a very nice vintage accessory, because you do not need to remove original parts. You need only the lamp and a power socket. Today, this will cost about 100-150 USD.
The third parking light option is, to mount the lamps on the b-pillar. This option makes sense on VW Bugs without semaphores, so about from 1959.
