Garbojama 2015 Zlot VW Show Krakow

I visited the 15th Garbojama 2015 VW Show (Zlot garbusów) in Krakow Poland.

The event was from 9 - 12 July in Kryspinów (Budzyń-Cholerzyn) which is 14 kilometer west of Krakow in Poland at two beautiful lakes.

Before the VW meeting, I travelled in Poland from Warsaw to Wrocław, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Black Madonna of Częstochowa and arrived at the Garbojama Zlot in the evening of Friday, 10 July.

Friday evening was live music and a superb foam party. The atmosphere was excellent and the price for a nice cold draft beer was 5 zloty which is about 1,20 EUR.

I got up early Saturday morning and took some pictures with the early light while most VW fans were still snoring in a tent or VW camping bus.

At 10:00 a.m. was the start of the VW parade to the Wawel Castle which is in Cracow's historic center. I rode along in a VW bus of nice people from Krakow, because I had a new rental car. The car park below the castle is very small, so a classic VW was standing behind the other. I climbed the Wawel Castle and took some pictures of the VW Show.

By 1:00 p.m. the VW fans travelled back to the Kryspinów camping place and I visited the old city of Krakow.

I returned to the VW event at the Kryspinów lakes in the afternoon. There was lots of entertainment for kids, like painting or “Zorbing” which is rolling downhill inside an orb. At about 6:30 p.m., the trophies were awarded for the most beautiful VW. The sunset was at 8:15. p.m. and in the evening was live music and a fireworks display.

I got up early on Sunday, enjoyed the early morning and great weather. After breakfast, many VW fans have dismantled the tent and packed everything in the car.

At 10:00 a.m. was the rally to the church in the village Mnikowa, which is only a few kilometers from the camping ground. After church, there was free coffee, juices and biscuits and the Pastor has consecrated the old Volkswagen. Then the VW fans set off and the pastor waved nice. Awesome!

I highly recommend this event. Everything is well organized and clean, the location on the lake is nice and it can be bathed. The prices are low and there is a lot on offer.
