I have an original Blaupunkt Mannheim radio in my 1969 Beetle and it runs with the original speaker. I also ordered a new speaker from retro sound, which is great, but I was too lazy to install it.

I put also a special Blaupunkt DIN cable connector in the rear of the radio which makes it possible to connect two more thinks like a MP3 connector with ACR 900 player.

The first picture shows my 1969 VW 1500 Beetle with Blaupunkt Mannheim MU, all original and untouched. The radio was made about 1970. I changed the radio because it did not work and it had not the DIN connector. The DIN connector is useful for mobile connection.

Below some pictures of the radio in my Beetle and also a scan of the original Blaupunkt installation instructions.

This is how the Blaupunkt radio is mounted from the rear in my 1969 VW Bug. All is original. I also installed a special Blaupunkt DIN cable which makes out of 1xDIN a 2xDIN. With the cable I can put e.g. an ACR 900 and a MP3 connector in my Beetle. That’s working and is good fun.
